Not much to say here except “Cute!”  You get Buzz, his Spaceship, and the little blue missile.  To begin with, take note:  This is a smaller toy.  Buzz is officially 3 inches tall, but in reality is not quite there.  The space ship is 6 inches in length.

Yes, it fires the missile.  Yes, a missile aimed at someone’s eye could hurt them.  If you don’t think your child is old enough to play safely with those features, take the missile away, or better yet, choose a safer toy.

But… if you choose to get this set, you get a very portable toy that can go with you without a big production.  How valuable is peace and quiet when you’re trying to drive in heavy traffic?  Or on a long trip with minimal space for ‘fun’?

You also get a toy, that by most accounts, has a long, long, play-life.  Buzz fits inside the cockpit, the hatch opens and closes, and it shoots.  The art is clean and simple, everything is durable.  I must say, I’m not a big fan of the cartoony Buzz face that they like to put on some of the figures.  But it’s still Buzz, with his character and personality intact.  Seems to me like that style is aimed at younger children than the normal face design.  Or possibly just meant for smaller figures without a lot of detailed sculpting.

I do want to mention the Amazon price… it’s middle of the road.  If you don’t mind searching online, you can find the set cheaper.  But you’re still paying shipping.  Amazon does offer multiple vendors with individual prices for most items, and many are free shipping if you order more than $25 worth of goods from Amazon.

You can do whatever works best for you.  For me, though, I live on Amazon.  I buy books, toys, gifts, equipment, you name it, on Amazon.  So most of the time, I make an order of enough items to qualify for free shipping.  The savings on shipping costs is typically enough to tilt the value to ‘acceptable’.  Amazon works for me.  But, you could also try ebay.  Or Google shopping.  The point is, you have nearly infinite choices online.  Smart shoppers do research.  But… that’s why you’re reading this, right?  :^)

Back on topic, I like this set.  Maybe not for my personal collection, but it’s very appealing for a young child, and I’m already thinking about Christmas now…
