I enjoy these Toy Story Buddy Packs. They’re short, about 2″ tall (though Woody is usually taller). No articulation, these are purely static display. What’s funny, is I have about 5 Buddy Pack sets, mainly all the ones that had Buzz Lightyear included. But I didn’t recognize this one, the Protector Waving set. So Monique and I marched out to look over my collection, just to make sure. Turns out, this one is NOT there… an oversight I’m going to have to correct!
As far as playability, they make great toys, and are a good portable size. The art is a little different, Buzz has a wider jaw and more cartoony look than usual. The design is consistent with all of the Buddy Packs. The color and sculpt are good, as long as you remember these are tiny pvc plastic pieces. Don’t expect supreme detail.
While they make great toys, and would fit right into a playset of characters, what I like most about the Buddy Packs is their suitability for collections. They’re a perfect size and quality to fit into my ‘small’ Buzzes. In my collection, for instance, there’s the ‘small’ Buzzes, the mid-sized ones, and the ‘full-sized’ Buzz Lightyears. Plus the robot one I classify as ‘oversized’. The small ones make a great filler, spread out through the shelves.
Final thoughts: For their size and construction material, the detail is great. I like these a lot. Have several already, and would enjoy adding the Protector Buzz Lightyear (and Waving Woody) to my collection.
